Arkansas – Rakeem Boyd, Running Back, Senior

In one of my first articles, I expressed the upside of the former Last Chance U star heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. With a new coach in place at Arkansas, the upcoming season is making out to be a great one for Rakeem Boyd.

A star of the third season of Netflix’s Last Chance U, Boyd has made the most of his time at Arkansas. Originally at Texas A&M before a reroute sent him to Independence CC, Boyd is now the lead back on one of the few run-first teams left in the country.

Over 12 games with the Razorbacks last season, Boyd rushed for a team-high 1,133 yards and eight touchdowns, all on just 184 attempts. Now with new coach Sam Pittman at the helm of the Razorbacks, the offensive line coach that help produced players like Andrew Thomas at Georgia, Boyd could have an even better opportunity ahead of him in the 2020 season.

One of the things that Boyd will have to work on improving is his ability in the passing game. Last season he totaled 160 yards on 19 catches, which isn’t bad by any means, but if he can continue to build on that then more teams will begin to take notice and look his way in the 2021 NFL Draft.
