2021 NFL Draft prospects to watch: SEC
By Kyle Edmond
Vanderbilt – Dimitri Moore, Linebacker, Redshirt Junior
Vanderbilt had just one selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, but should he come out next year, Dimitri Moore should secure that they have at least one in the 2021 NFL Draft as well. Moore was one of the defensive anchors for the Commodores during the 2019 campaign and the 2020 season should be similar.
With 99 tackles, Moore led the Vanderbilt defense in the stat a year ago, tallying over 40 more than the second-highest mark on the team, placing him in the top 10 in the conference for the stat. He also added three pass breakups as well as a sack and a quarterback hurry.
Although he didn’t do much beyond tackles, that could very well be enough for him to receive draft consideration. A run stopper in the middle of the defense is a need that most teams will always be willing to add more of, similar to pass rushers.
Depending on how the upcoming season goes for Moore, he should at least warrant a mid-to-late round pick that could turn into a value selection for whoever takes the chance on him. He might not be a starter at the next level, but he would provide a rotational player that can be relied on and also contribute on special teams with his sure-fire tackling ability.
