Jacksonville Jaguars way-too-early four-round 2021 NFL mock draft
The Jaguars are going to give Minshew as much of an opportunity to succeed as possible. They want him to perform well and cement himself as their franchise quarterback. However, let’s be honest here. They are still working with a guy who was a sixth-round pick just over a year ago. Minshew showed some promise last season, but he is far from guaranteed to be a success with Jacksonville.
With this in mind, the decision is pretty easy here at No. 1. Trevor Lawrence is one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory and is the overwhelming favorite to be the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. It is obviously still early in the process, but nearly every NFL team would have a tough time passing on Lawrence.
Based on raw skill-set alone, Lawrence is undoubtedly elite. He is an extremely athletic quarterback who shows legitimately explosive speed when he finds a crease. Lawrence also feels pressure well and throws on the ball on the run at an extremely high-level.
His arm strength is tremendous. Lawrence throws a beautiful deep ball with tremendous range on his passes and brings the heat in a big way when he has to fit the ball in tight spaces with velocity. This guy has all of the arm talent in the world and shows impressive accuracy and anticipation with a huge majority of his throws.
Lawrence does get himself in trouble with decision making at times, but his raw ability gets him by a huge majority of the time. He will have to clean up his game a bit to truly reach his ceiling at the next level, but his raw upside as a franchise quarterback is absolutely massive.
Now with Lawrence in the fold, the Jacksonville Jaguars will move forward and try to surround him with as much talent as possible. Let’s see what they can find.
