QB. Oregon. Justin Herbert. 5. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 59. player

Actual pick: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama

No Joe Burrow, no Tua Tagovailoa for the Miami Dolphins.

No Tua Tagovailoa for the Miami Dolphins, then what?

There were talks that Justin Herbert would have been QB1 had he declared himself eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft, and that’s probably the case. He came back to Oregon for his senior season and was still a top 6 pick by the Los Angeles Chargers.

With no senior season at Oregon, Herbert’s decision to return to school would have been somewhat wasted but I think his draft stock would have remained unchanged and there could have even been a bidding war for his services at that point.

Herbert was a player who, after his senior season in 2019, people would not have been surprised to see him fall a bit in the first round.

Still, he’s a solid first-rounder and I think with no 2019 season, his value might have been even stronger.
