Actual pick: Cesar Ruiz, C, Michigan

At this time a year ago, there was really one interior offensive lineman being talked about as a first-round candidate in the 2020 NFL Draft, and that was Wisconsin center Tyler Biadasz.

Biadasz saw his stock drop considerably over the course of the 2019 season with injuries affecting his play and most scouts or analysts felt like his 2018 tape was far better than his 2019 tape.

If the Saints were intent on using their top 2020 NFL Draft pick on the interior offensive line, without a 2019 college season who knows if they would have picked Cesar Ruiz?

In his junior season at Michigan, Ruiz became known around college football as one of the best pass protectors at his position. Prior to the 2019 season, he had just one full year and a third-team All-Big Ten selection to his name.
