Actual pick: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
Jedrick Wills was not really on anyone’s radar a year ago at this time. Although he’d played well as Alabama’s right tackle, Wills used his junior season to solidify his top draft status in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Tristan Wirfs had a ton of hype heading into his junior year for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and even though it’s hard to argue with the Browns’ selection of Wills knowing what we know now, it’s still a little hard to believe they passed on Wirfs, who would have been a perfect scheme fit for Kevin Stefanski.
Wirfs has other-worldly athletic and physical tools for the tackle position, and his transition to the left side of the line with Jack Conklin at right tackle would have been seamless.
