Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Gregory Rousseau. 5. EDGE. Miami (FL). player. 30

The New York Jets filled two of their biggest holes early in the 2020 NFL Draft. First, with the selection of left tackle Mekhi Becton at No. 11 overall and then with wide receiver Denzel Mims in the second.

Both Becton and Mims are extremely talented players who are going to immediately help take the Jets’ offense to the next level. Adding a legitimate franchise left tackle and a true playmaking at wide receiver will certainly help the development of quarterback Sam Darnold.

While the Jets may be on the right track, this roster still has major holes that need to be addressed. In particular, they need to improve their situations at edge rusher and cornerback. These two positions are the priority for the Jets in this mock draft and Miami edge rusher Gregory Rousseau stands out as the best 2021 NFL Draft prospect at those positions available.

Rousseau is a long and athletic edge rusher who seems to be just starting to hit his stride. He has an explosive first step, fantastic bend around the edge and closes on the quarterback quickly. He is a bit of a raw talent, but Rousseau undoubtedly has tremendous upside at the next level. The Jets need to find a player to build their defense around and Rousseau certainly has the talent to be that guy.
