Scouting Report. WR. 59. Pick Analysis. LSU. Ja'Marr Chase. 3. player

The Miami Dolphins are coming off of a strong offseason where they were able to add many potential impact players on both sides of the ball. Most notably, the Dolphins landed their franchise quarterback, snagging Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Dolphins are hoping that Tagovailoa can help them take a significant step forward in 2020, but that does not go according to plan in this Madden simulation.

Instead, the Dolphins ended up with the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and have put themselves in a position to land a premier prospect in this class. With Tagovailoa in the fold, the Dolphins are not looking at quarterback here, but they do find their franchise quarterback an elite weapon to work with. With the third pick of this mock draft, the Dolphins select LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

While it’s obviously early, Chase is the clear WR1 at this point in the 2021 NFL Draft process. Chase is coming off of an incredible 2019 season where he piled up 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. He is a quick and explosive downfield target who shows an incredible ability to create consistent separation on his routes. He has big and strong hands, shines in contested-catch situations and can undoubtedly create after the catch.

Simply put, Chase is an incredible wide receiver prospect who has massive upside at the next level. The Dolphins have already put together a nice group of pass-catching weapons for Tagovailoa, but adding Chase to the mix would put the unit over the top.
