Alabama. Christian Barmore. 50. Pick Analysis. IDL. 10. player. Scouting Report

The Detroit Lions have some interesting players on both sides of the ball, but this is not a roster worth getting particularly excited about. The Lions feel like they are on the verge of a much-needed rebuild and it is fair to wonder whether head coach Matt Patricia will be around much longer. If they have another mediocre season, Patricia could easily be gone.

Whether Patricia is still around or not, Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore certainly makes sense for this team in this range. Barmore yet to be a full-time starter in college, but it is hard to hold that too much against him as he is entering his redshirt sophomore season and plays for Alabama. Despite not play too much last season, Barmore showed a ton of promise and could easily become a premier 2021 NFL Draft prospect.

Barmore shows an impressive combination of quickness and power up front. He has strong and active hands and does a great job of maintaining a good distance from the opposing blockers. Barmore shows tremendous natural block-shed ability and also does a nice job of taking on blocks and filling gaps against the run when he is asked.

With an explosive first step and a wide array of interior pass-rush moves, Barmore does a great job of attacking in one-gap situations. He is an extremely active and athletic rusher who has the raw ability to be a dangerous playmaker at the next level.

The Lions should be doing whatever they can to find impact playmakers to add to their roster. Barmore is certainly a bit of a project player, but if he can continue to shine while taking full-time snaps in 2020, his 2021 NFL Draft stock could rise in a big way.
