2021 NFL Draft prospects to watch: Big 12 Conference
By Kyle Edmond
Baylor – Terrel Bernard, Linebacker, Junior
Sneaking under the radar for most people, Terrel Bernard is a candidate to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft and forego his senior season if he can repeat his success from his sophomore campaign. Bernard led the way for the Baylor defense a year ago, totaling a team-high 112 tackles over 14 games. Bernard also racked up tackles for a loss, registering 9.5, tied for third on the team. He also added 4.5 sacks which was tied for fourth on the team.
Bernard really rounded out his stat line as well, adding an interception, two pass break-ups, five quarterback hurries and three fumbles recovered, which was tied for the team lead. Considering all those, it becomes pretty clear that Bernard is a well rounded talent that can contribute in a variety of ways on the defensive side of the ball.
With players like James Lynch, James Lockhart and Bravvion Roy moving on from Baylor, there will be even more opportunity for Bernard to advance his skills. A combination of those three mentioned stood in front of Bernard on the stat sheet for tackles for loss, sacks and quarterbacks hurries. With all three gone, Bernard will have a ton of opportunities to create more pressure while contributing across the field as well.
