Pick Analysis. EDGE. Jayson Oweh. 806. Scouting Report. 39. player. Penn State

It’s nice that the Miami Dolphins are once again set up well for the 2021 NFL Draft. They have the first and second-round selections from the Houston Texans. With the first of these two picks, it’s back to the trenches on the defensive side of the ball. Miami has a lot of depth in the building on the edge, especially after drafting both Jason Strowbridge and Curtis Weaver. It will be interesting to see if either can push for meaningful snaps.

The Dolphins wander a little off their type with this pick, selecting Penn State edge Jayson Oweh. Oweh is a very good athlete who can threaten the outside track and shows great bend and a good first step. Finding speed off the edge is always a good idea, and Oweh has the chance to jump into first-round conversation.

With their second of two second-round picks, the Dolphins look to add someone to play opposite Austin Jackson at tackle. Bringing in Ereck Flowers and Robert Hunt wasn’t bad, but both are better suited to play guard.

Jalen Mayfield, on the other hand, looks very ready to make the jump for Michigan in 2020. He’s very impressive in the run game and has the athleticism to succeed in mirroring pass rushers in pass pro. He struggles a little against speed, but if he continues to improve his technique, he’ll be a solid pro.
