Sleeper Running Back – Cam Akers, Los Angeles Rams

Like the Chiefs, the Rams have had a long line of successful fantasy football running backs from Marshall Faulk to Steven Jackson to Todd Gurley. And like Edwards-Helaire, Cam Akers could be the next name added to the list. Producing a total of 18 touchdowns at Florida State last season, Akers has the potential to be one of the top running backs from the 2020 NFL Draft class.

Moving on from Gurley, the Rams will need to find a new running back to fit into Sean McVay’s offense. Although the running back room is a little full with Malcolm Brown, Darrell Henderson, and John Kelly in addition to Akers, someone has to emerge and it looks to be Akers. The other backs have been given a shot and haven’t lived up to expectations.

Given where Akers is going in drafts, he could be one of the biggest steals of the season. If he even has half of the rookie season that Gurley had he could be one the best return on values of the season. For dynasty and keeper leagues, he should be valued even higher as he could be the future of the run game in Los Angeles for the next few seasons at least.
