5. Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

Scouting Report. LSU. Ja'Marr Chase. player. Pick Analysis. WR. 5. 30

The New York Jets got off to a good start surrounding Sam Darnold in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Mekhi Becton is a mountain of a man at left tackle who should improve Darnold’s play simply if he just went out there and stood up on every play. It’s not easy to get around a 6-foot-7, 365-pound behemoth.

In the second round of this year’s draft, the Jets took a player who could be their WR1 by default this season — Denzel Mims.

It’s imperative the Jets continue to put weapons around Sam Darnold, and Ja’Marr Chase is exactly that.

Even having caught 84 passes last season, Chase averaged over 21 yards per reception.

This guy is ridiculous and has all of the traits you look for in a WR1 type of prospect.

The 2021 NFL Draft class may not rival the 2020 class in terms of depth, but perhaps it will in terms of top-end talent.

Chase is a superstar caliber type of prospect.
