2021 NFL Draft: Justin Fields tops Trevor Lawrence in QB-rich mock draft
29. Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
Somewhat quietly, Chris Olave was the Ohio State leader last year with 12 touchdown receptions, which is also the most among returning Big Ten receivers and tight ends in 2020.
For the New Orleans Saints, Olave would represent the heir apparent to recently signed Emmanuel Sanders, who even into his 30s doesn’t appear to be slowing down just yet.
With that said, this is a New Orleans team whose roster is so talented, a luxury pick like wide receiver early in next year’s draft might be something they can afford.
Olave is a very good route runner which is becoming more habit than anything from the kids at Ohio State, and he’s got soft hands and a tremendous ability to create separation deep downfield.
He’s had one really good season, so he will need to step up in Ohio State’s passing game as the leader this year to warrant a high selection like this, but he’s got the well-rounded game to do it.
