2021 NFL Draft: Justin Fields tops Trevor Lawrence in QB-rich mock draft
21. Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
Depending on who you ask you might get a different answer from everyone — who is the best cornerback in the 2021 NFL Draft?
Some people believe it’s Caleb Farley. Some believe it’s Shaun Wade.
Others believe it’s Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II, an NFL legacy who has been tremendous in the early stages of his career with the Crimson Tide.
Surtain has 15 pass breakups, three interceptions, and four forced fumbles through his first two seasons with Alabama, and has been given a huge level of responsibility as a true freshman starter two seasons ago.
Entering year three, the pressure is now on Surtain to take the next step in his development. At 6-foot-2, 203 pounds, Surtain has the perfect size to defend against all types and sizes of receivers, and can play inside as a slot or outside in either press or zone.
He’s a very smart, refined prospect and could ascend to top 10 status over the course of the next few months.
