2021 NFL Draft: Justin Fields tops Trevor Lawrence in QB-rich mock draft
18. Carlos Basham, DE, Wake Forest
If there is one clear area of weakness on the Minnesota Vikings’ roster right now, it’s the defensive end position.
The Vikings moved on from Everson Griffen this offseason and they still have Danielle Hunter, one of the most underrated rushers in the league, but they need more.
Carlos Basham is a player who would fit the Vikings’ scheme perfectly as a base defensive end with upside as a power and effort rusher.
After a solid sophomore season with 11 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, Basham was a serious threat for the Wake Forest defense in 2019 with 18 tackles for loss and 10 total sacks.
Basham would give the Vikings a talented, physical presence at the defensive end position opposite Danielle Hunter, who is incredibly not even 26 years old yet and already has 54.5 career sacks.
