QUARTERBACKS: (2/53)

  1. Matt Ryan
  2. Kurt Benkert

Matt Ryan enters the 2020 season at the age of 35 and he is going into his thirteenth season with the team. He is no doubt one of the best quarterbacks this franchise has seen and even though he is on the back end of his career he should put up good numbers in 2020.

Ryan has nine straight 4,000+ yard seasons and has only missed one game since 2009. Ryan still needs that Lombardi Trophy on his resume as he came close in 2012 and 2016.

As for the backup quarterback position, Matt Schaub has been the guy the past three seasons but he is 38 years old. He did well last season in the one game he had to start due to Ryan’s absence, throwing for over 450 yards.

Kurt Benkert performed well during the preseason last year before a season-ending injury derailed any chance of winning the backup spot. This preseason I expect Benkert to clearly win the backup role and give the Falcons a young playmaker behind Ryan.

Danny Etling I can see as a practice squad quarterback for the Falcons in case they need an emergency quarterback during the regular season.

Surprise Cut: Matt Schaub
