Edge rusher still stands out as a major position of need for the New York Giants. They have found some nice defensive talent in recent years, but have yet to find edge players who can consistently create pressure on the quarterback. Simply put, when the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around, edge rusher will likely be the single biggest need on this roster.

In the second round of this mock draft, the Giants make a significant addition at the position. Carlos Basham Jr. is an extremely smart and consistent player who can certainly work himself into the first round with a strong 2020 season.

Basham is not the most explosive rusher on the edge, but he shows an impressive combination of power and toughness that will play at the next level. He is quick off of the ball, shows extremely strong hands and consistently plays with a high motor. Basham does a fantastic job of setting the edge and never gives up on a play. He is constantly putting himself in the best possible position to make a play on the ball.

Basham is never going to lead the league in sacks, but he will put consistent pressure on the passer and is tremendous against the run. The New York Giants could certainly use a strong and stable presence at the edge rusher position and Basham would fit the bill perfectly.
