New York Giants 2021 NFL Draft: Way-too-early 3-round mock draft
The Giants hold the sixth overall pick in this 2021 NFL Draft scenario and the pick really came down to two choices. Penn State do-it-all linebacker Micah Parsons would certainly make some sense here, but the ability to give Jones a true number one receiver to build with was too tempting to pass up. Ja’Marr Chase is the pick for the Giants at No. 6.
Chase is a 6-foot-1, 200-pound wide receiver who absolutely dominated college football last season. With Joe Burrow feeding him the rock in the LSU offense, Chase piled up an incredible 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He won the Biletnikoff Award for the best receiver in all of college football.
While Chase’s numbers may slip a bit with Burrow and Joe Brady leaving town, there is no doubting his incredible natural ability at the wide receiver position. He has blazing speed on the outside and tracks the deep ball incredibly well. Chase also does a fantastic job of finding soft spots against zone coverage, has incredibly strong hands and creates well after the catch.
Chase is without a doubt the top receiver in a loaded 2021 NFL Draft class and should be an immediate impact player at the next level. Adding him to the mix in New York would immediately take their offense to the next level and give Jones a legitimate chance to reach his upside as the franchise quarterback of the Giants.
