Defensive line (6, 33/53)

  • 1. Al Woods
  • 2. Taven Bryan
  • 3. Abry Jones
  • 4. Rodney Gunter
  • 5. Davon Hamilton
  • 6. Dawuane Smoot

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been pretty vocal about their plan to run more 3-4 principles in 2020 than in years past. This makes a lot of sense considering the personnel they currently have.

On the defensive line, they brought in Al Woods and Rodney Gunter in free agency and drafted Davon Hamilton in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, all of which fit the mold of a 3-4 unit.

Woods and Hamilton will join Abry Jones as players who could be tasked with playing nose tackle, while Gunter will likely be joining Taven Bryan and Dawuane Smoot as those potential 3-4 ends.

On base downs, I would imagine Al Woods would fill the early-down role at nose, while Taven Bryan slides inside at three-technique.

I think the depth on this unit could prove to be a strength for the Jags this season.
