3rd place. . player. Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 48. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NFC South

2020 NFL Draft Picks

  • 1. Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
  • 2. Antoine Winfield Jr., DB, Minnesota
  • 3. Ke’Shawn Vaughn, RB, Vanderbilt
  • 4. Tyler Johnson, WR, Minnesota
  • 5. Khalil Davis, DL, Nebraska
  • 6. Chapelle Russell, LB, Temple
  • 7. Raymond Calais, RB, Louisiana

Top pick: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa

Tristan Wirfs was not expected to last beyond the top 10 selections in the 2020 NFL Draft, so the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to be thanking their lucky stars when he was there at 13 overall. They traded up one spot with the San Francisco 49ers to get Wirfs who will be an immediate starter and impact player for them as a rookie.

Wirfs gives the Bucs an athletic, physical right tackle to help protect Tom Brady in 2020.

Steal: WR Tyler Johnson, Minnesota – 5th round

The Bucs got a couple of the best the Minnesota Gophers had to offer in 2020, and Tyler Johnson could wind up being one of the biggest steals of this draft overall.

Johnson made one ridiculous catch after another over the past couple of years at Minnesota, and he should fit in nicely as the slot in Bruce Arians’ offense along with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Overall Grade: B+

In the second round, the Bucs got a versatile weapon for their secondary and a tough, physical player who can attack the football in Antoine Winfield Jr.

Winfield’s presence in the secondary was much-needed since the Bucs used their primary free agent assets (aside from Tom Brady) on the defensive front.

Everyone was intrigued to see what back the Bucs would add and it ended up being Ke’Shawn Vaughn. He has a real opportunity to impress the Bucs’ staff as well as Brady and have a significant role as a rookie.

One pick Bucs fans might really love over time is seventh-rounder Raymond Calais. Calais ran a 4.42 in the 40-yard dash at the Combine and threw up 20 bench press reps at 225 pounds even though he only weighs 188.

He averaged over seven yards per carry last year at Louisiana-Lafayette and might be a nice sleeper pickup for this team.
