2020 NFL Draft Picks

  • 2. Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor
  • 3. Ashtyn Davis, S, Cal
  • 4. Jabari Zuniga, EDGE, Florida
  • 5. La’Mical Perine, RB, Florida
  • 6. James Morgan, QB, Florida International
  • 7. Cameron Clark, OL, Charlotte
  • 8. Bryce Hall, CB, Virginia
  • 9. Braden Mann, P, Texas A&M

Top pick: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville

Getting protection for Sam Darnold was paramount in this draft for the Jets, and they definitely got it with Mekhi Becton.

Daniel Jeremiah had made a tremendous point about Becton in the pre-draft process. You can’t really just run around him. You can’t run through him. How are you supposed to get a great rush on this guy?

He’s so long, athletic, and strong, that it’s tough to fathom anything but injury preventing him from having a great career protecting Sam Darnold’s blind side.

Steal: CB Bryce Hall, Virginia – 5th round

Bryce Hall was one of the biggest steals of the entire draft.

Teams must have been really scared off by his injury this past season at Virginia. If he ends up staying healthy, this is a guy who had 23 passes defended two seasons ago along with a pair of forced fumbles.

There’s no doubt he’s a starter if healthy.

Overall Grade: B+

Ultimately, this draft is going to be judged by how well the Mekhi Becton selection works out, because his success could determine Sam Darnold’s success.

The value of Denzel Mims in round two was tremendous, and he might end up being the Jets’ WR1 as a rookie.

Ashtyn Davis and Jabari Zuniga give the Jets a pair of starting-caliber players for their defense right away, and La’Mical Perine was one of the more underrated backs throughout the pre-draft process.

The Jets’ most interesting selection to monitor could be Charlotte offensive lineman Cameron Clark, who was a pre-draft favorite of a number of analysts. He may need a season to grow, but he could end up being really good.
