No. 7 – Myles Garrett, Edge Rusher, Cleveland Browns, 2017 NFL Draft

The first of back-to-back first overall picks for Cleveland, Myles Garrett has been a cornerstone in the Browns finding the win column multiple times a year again. He had a slip up that ended his 2019 season, but anyone that knows Garrett knows that it was an uncharacteristic incident. Even with the misstep, Garrett has shown flashes of dominance.

In three seasons, Garrett has played all 16 games just once, being in the 2018 season, but when he did so he was a shoo-in for the Pro Bowl. Even with playing in just 10 games last season, he still tallied 10 sacks and 11 tackles for loss after having 13.5 and 12 during the 2019 season. We’ll have to see how he comes out this coming season, but there’s no question he knows how to apply pressure.

Although Garrett has been a solid pick for Cleveland, it’s hard to overlook what could have been. Mitchell Trubisky was the second pick, but after that came Christian McCaffrey and Patrick Mahomes, who are at the top of their positions already in the league.

Cleveland should be happy with Garrett, but it’s hard not to think “What if?” Landing Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb the following season eased those thoughts, but they are still there.
