Tennessee Titans rookie RB Darrynton Evans deserves touches in 2020.

Taking reps from the NFL’s reigning rushing king Derrick Henry is not going to be an easy task for Tennessee Titans rookie running back Darrynton Evans.

Henry was just slapped with the franchise tag by the Titans after getting a whopping 321 touches in 2019, racking up 1,746 yards from scrimmage with 18 total touchdowns and a library full of big-time highlight plays.

Henry was so dominant that the Titans rode him all the way to the AFC Championship game this past season.

He was tremendous in the postseason, averaging nearly 150 rushing yards per game with a pair of touchdowns.

The Titans are certainly going to want to get their money’s worth out of Henry in 2020, but they also need to make sure they closely manage his workload on a weekly basis. The last thing they need is for their most valuable offensive playmaker to be suffering from the wear and tear on his body as they try to compete for the AFC South again in 2020.

Darrynton Evans is the best prospect you never knew about

The 2019 Sun Belt offensive player of the year, Evans was a dynamic threat every time he touched the ball for Appalachian State.

He finished the 2019 season with 23 offensive touchdowns — 18 rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns. He had one kickoff return touchdown in each of his three seasons with Appalachian State and provides tremendous value in that phase of the game.

Evans’ athletic ability is up there among the best at the running back position in this class.

With his speed, vision, explosiveness, and ability to make defenders miss in the open field, Evans might just be the most underrated offensive weapon in the 2020 NFL Draft class.

The Titans decided to move on from former Patriots running back Dion Lewis this offseason, and while Evans is not the exact same type of player, he is a speedy back capable of providing a really dynamic change of pace whenever Derrick Henry needs a break.

Henry’s presence alone gave the Titans a ground game that will cause defensive coordinators to lose sleep, but the addition of Evans into the Titans’ backfield is going to give them nightmares.
