Season 1: Tayvon Bowers, Quarterback, Gardner-Webb (Wake Forest)

Bowers brought a new layer to the show that the other two stars of the first season didn’t quite have, and that was his relationship to his coach. Bowers was very close with Matt Johnson, a former Bowling Green star and two-time MAC champion who is now serving as the running backs coach at Kent State. Johnson mentored Bowers who went on to commit to Wake Forest where, like Martell, he spent the first season on campus as a redshirt.

In his second season, being 2018, Bowers fell down the depth chart behind season two star Sam Hartman as well as Jamie Newman. Bowers made it onto the field for just eight snaps, all of which were run plays. The storyline was the same this past season with Bowers finally attempting a collegiate pass, that fell incomplete.

This all led to Bowers transferring to Gardner-Webb in January where he will compete to be the starter in 2020 after the 2019 starter, Kalen Whitlow, graduated.

As for his NFL Draft status, Bowers’ dream may have died with the transfer, with the school sending just five players to the NFL, the last being in 2008. Injuries are sure to have played a factor in his fall from the show, but Bowers’ was still a fan favorite for the series.
