Spencer Brown is a big and powerful offensive tackle who shows tremendous upside as both a run blocker and pass protector. Brown is an extremely talented player who undoubtedly has a chance to grow into a first-round prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Brown began his college career in 2016 as a 6-foot-8, 238-pound tight end who played eight-man football at Lenox High School in Lenox, Iowa. He redshirted that first season and made a quick transition to the offensive line. Brown has now been the starting right tackle at Northern Iowa for two and a half seasons and is listed at 6-foot-9, 321 pounds.
Spencer Brown has everything an NFL team wants at offensive tackle
Brown has grown into an absolute monster on the Northern Iowa offensive line and still has some quick feet that have translated over from his lighter days. He is a big and strong player who has an athletic frame and long arms. Brown also shows an explosive first step, is incredibly powerful at the point of attack and consistently plays through the whistle.
He does a great job of using his long arms in pass protection and also shows smooth movement ability. Brown gets up and out of his stance quickly and shows the ability to make blocks at the second level with ease. He is also a tough and aggressive blocker who consistently looks to dominate his opponent with pure physicality.
When it comes down to it, Brown seems to have it all at the offensive tackle position. His combination of size, power and athleticism on the offensive line is extremely impressive. If he continues to dominate through the 2020 season, Brown should undoubtedly be looked at as a possible first-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
