2021 NFL Draft: Washington Redskins get top pick in new mock draft
By Kyle Edmond
8. New York Jets: Shaun Wade, Cornerback, Ohio State
Yes, I have the two New York teams picking back-to-back, but that goes well with how many teams have to play them back-to-back this year. Anyway, I project the Jets to finish around the 5-11 mark. This one is less on the players as it is the coach.
Adam Gase isn’t the guy for the Jets and with a strong roster, a bad season will illustrate that all too well. One hole that will be glaring is the secondary. The Jets are still searching for a dominant corner to replace the void still being felt by Darrelle Revis. In steps Shaun Wade.
Every year Ohio State produces at least one first-round cornerback, and if it isn’t a cornerback it’s a defensive end. Majority pan out, which is why the Jets can be confident in selecting Wade. The only worry is if he goes higher than where they will fall in the draft.
This past year the first cornerback was off the board at three, the year before the first true cornerback fell all the way down to 30. If Wade has the season many are expecting from him, he will be much closer to three than he will be to 30 in the first round.
