2021 NFL Draft: Washington Redskins get top pick in new mock draft
By Kyle Edmond
27. Dallas Cowboys: Chazz Surratt, Linebacker, North Carolina
The Cowboys are built for a deep playoff run, but we’ve heard that before. I currently have the Cowboys at 12-4, but a lot has to fall into place for that to happen. With Andy Dalton on, it seems like their ready to go the distance in the negotiations with Dak Prescott, which could derail the season if there’s a holdout.
However, with the weapons on the offense, there’s little room for error at the quarterback position. If the Cowboys fall short of expectations, that’s where the blame will fall given the amount of talent at the disposal of either Prescott or Dalton.
Regardless, the 2021 NFL Draft could provide a spot for the Cowboys to do something they should have done a few seasons ago. Find a replacement for Sean Lee. Somehow, Lee is still not only on the roster, but listed as a starter, despite his countless injuries. Surratt fits the bill as Lee’s predecessor on the defense.
If Dallas would want to go a different direction, they could do the same thing but with the tight end position. Blake Jarwin will have another opportunity to prove he can take the starting job, but if he disappoints, then the 2021 NFL Draft could see the Cowboys take a first-round tight end.
