2021 NFL Draft: Washington Redskins get top pick in new mock draft
By Kyle Edmond
13. Miami Dolphins (via HOU): Richard LeCounte, Safety, Georgia
This pick comes from the Laremy Tunsil trade for Miami. Having already replaced Tunsil by taking Sewell with the second pick, the Dolphins can use this pick to continue their rebuild elsewhere. With most of their offense taking shape, they can turn to the defense, specifically secondary, like they did during this year’s draft to add more pieces to the position group.
Another draft, another year without a first-round pick for Houston in the 2021 NFL Draft. They are starting to feel the effects of the moves they’ve made and continue to make questionable moves still. For that reason, a 6-10 record for Houston is very possible. When you lose one of the best wide receivers in the game, that will be felt the following season.
Here, the Dolphins can look for the best player available and in this case it’s Richard LeCounte. He has shown to be a playmaker at Georgia and would fill a big hole in the secondary for Miami while also joining a young position group that will grow together and progress at the same time. This is how most teams are doing rebuilds now on the defense, by getting young secondary pieces and more veteran players up front.
