Terrell Lewis was the best value in the Los Angeles Rams 2020 NFL Draft class.

After failing to make the playoffs for the first time in the Sean McVay era, the Los Angeles Rams had themselves a bit of a rebuild this offseason. They cut Todd Gurley traded Brandin Cooks, and let their top edge rushers Dante Fowler and Clay Mathews walk in free agency.

These moves left major holes on their roster but to their credit, the Rams did focus on filling those spots in the 2020 NFL Draft. They landed Gurley’s potential replacement in Cam Akers with their first pick at 52 and took Van Jefferson at 57 to fill the Cooks void, but perhaps their best value pick out of their nine draftees was their selection of edge-rusher, Terrell Lewis.

Lewis was projected to go in the first or second-round in most mocks leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft, but he ended up sliding all the way to the 84th pick in the third round.

He has the build and athletic profile that any team would want out on the edge, and when on the field he showed plenty of skill as a pass-rusher, but the problem is that he was seldom healthy, which was undoubtedly the cause of his slip.

Lewis is a risk worth taking for the Los Angeles Rams.

Days before the draft, it was reported that Lewis was medically failed by a number of NFL teams after missing 25 games in his career with the Alabama Crimson Tide due to various injuries.

While injury concerns should always be taken seriously, Lewis has so much potential that the risk is absolutely worth where he was taken.

He is an explosive athlete that can get off the ball with quickness. Pair that with his unbelievable length and strength and he should have a major impact for the rebuilding Los Angeles Rams in 2020.

In a relatively weak edge class, landing a guy like Terrell Lewis midway through the third is a terrific value. If he can prove that his injury issues are a thing of the past, he could be one of the bigger steals of the 2020 NFL Draft.
