Round 1, Pick 6

Actual 2020 NFL Draft selection: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Re-Draft selection: Jedrick Wills Jr., OT, Alabama

Besides quarterback, offensive tackle stands out as the biggest need on the Chargers’ roster. With Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa off of the board, there simply is not a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft class who I would have taken at No. 6. Instead, the Chargers fill their offensive tackle need with the selection of Jedrick Wills Jr.

Wills was a dominant offensive tackle in college, showing fantastic natural power in his hands and the ability to consistently move opposing defenders off of their spot. He is also an underrated athlete who gets out and moves well in space and can handle speed rushers on the edge.

Wills played right tackle in college but was likely only there to protect the blindside of his left-handed quarterback. He should have no issues moving to the left side at the next level and could easily become the best offensive lineman in the 2020 NFL Draft class.

Sticking Wills at left tackle and Bryan Bulaga at right tackle gives the Chargers a solid starting duo at the position that also has a ton of upside. Tyrod Taylor or whoever ends up playing quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers in this scenario would be sitting pretty in the pocket with these two guys protecting him.
