AFC West: Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are neck-and-neck for this distinction, but the Broncos edge them out.

New (projected) 2020 starters

  • RB Melvin Gordon
  • WR Jerry Jeudy
  • WR KJ Hamler
  • OG Graham Glasgow
  • C Lloyd Cushenberry III
  • DL Jurrell Casey
  • CB AJ Bouye
  • CB Michael Ojemudia

In addition to bringing these players in, the Broncos also managed to re-sign defensive linemen Shelby Harris and Mike Purcell, two key players from last year’s team, and they franchise tagged safety Justin Simmons.

The Broncos clearly felt highly of Drew Lock in their postseason film review because they based their entire offseason on him.

AJ Bouye and Jurrell Casey were brought in for fourth- and seventh-round picks respectively, and could perhaps be two of the most impactful additions in the NFL this offseason replacing Chris Harris Jr. and Derek Wolfe.

The Broncos’ passing game will get a huge jolt from the additions of Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler, players who add a much needed element of speed to the offense that will now be called by Pat Shurmur.

The Broncos also made a somewhat surprising move to get Melvin Gordon from the Chargers to pair up with Phillip Lindsay. Gordon and Lindsay were both in the Pro Bowl together after the 2018-19 season.

On the offensive line, Denver upgraded substantially with their biggest free agent acquisition Graham Glasgow and third-round rookie Lloyd Cushenberry III.

Those two players will have a huge impact for Denver this season, as will rookie cornerback Michael Ojemudia, a third-round pick who is expected to come in and start on the outside as a rookie.
