NFL Draft 2020: Best pick made by each NFC East team
Philadelphia Eagles: K’Von Wallace, DB, Clemson
Round 4, 127th Overall
The Philadelphia Eagles added a much-needed playmaker at the wide receiver position in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Jalen Reagor should quickly become an important part of their offensive attack and we can’t forget about them taking Jalen Hurts in the second round. An argument could be made for either Reagor or Hurts being their best selection, but for me, K’Von Wallace stands out as the Eagles’ best 2020 NFL Draft pick.
Wallace is a physical safety prospect who shines when he is allowed to roam in the box. Wallace is a powerful prospect who does a nice job of coming up and making plays against the run. He fills run lanes well and is a reliable tackler in space. Wallace also shows strong playmaking skills as a short zone defender.
The Eagles lost Malcolm Jenkins in free agency this offseason and while Wallace cannot be counted on to immediately replace a guy like that, he is an extremely talented player who can help fill the void left by Jenkins.
Wallace is a tough and physical defensive back who also shows impressive ability in zone coverage. If he can become more dependable as a man-to-man defender, Wallace could quickly become and an extremely important defensive piece for the Eagles. Not bad for a fourth-round pick.
