Which team will hold the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft?

Obviously, we have a full season of football before we will know too much about the 2021 NFL Draft. Early scouting processes are important, but all of these prospects still have their most important college season ahead of them. On top of that, until the 2020 NFL season is played, we do not have any clue what the 2021 NFL Draft order will look like.

That being said, we can make educated guesses based on the rosters and current situations on which teams will struggle. Basically, we are going to try to predict who will be the worse teams in the NFL this season. Who will win the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes and take home the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft?

5. Washington Redskins

Led by an extremely talented defensive line, the Washington Redskins could end up being a solid team in 2020. They have some nice talent on both sides of the ball, but their 2020 success is going to come down to the improvement of quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

If Haskins plays well, this team could be solid. However, Haskins was not overly impressive as a rookie and it is far from guaranteed that he will take the next step. Plus, left tackle Trent Williams is now officially gone. That is not going to help their ability to protect their young quarterback.

If Haskins struggles and the Redskins end up holding the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, they could go in a few different directions. Simply taking Trevor Lawrence to replace Haskins as their franchise quarterback probably makes the most sense. But if they still believe in Haskins, trading down or taking stud offensive tackle Penei Sewell could make some sense as well.
