NFL Draft 2020: Best pick made by each AFC East team
New York Jets: Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor
Round 2, 59th Overall
The New York Jets did a nice job of finding value throughout the entire 2020 NFL Draft. It started with the strong selection of Mekhi Becton, who fills a much-needed hole for the team at the left tackle position. I certainly considered Becton as the best 2020 NFL Draft pick for the Jets, but decided to go with their second-round selection of Denzel Mims instead.
Mims has an incredibly exciting combination of size and speed as the wide receiver position on the outside. He is an exciting deep threat who tracks the ball in the air extremely well and shows impressive contested-catch ability. Mims uses his speed to separate down the field with ease. He also has a wide catch radius and true upside as a number one receiver at the next level.
It was great to see the Jets building around franchise quarterback Sam Darnold with their first two picks. Giving him a true franchise left tackle and a potential number one target on the outside will be great for his development.
Mims is a bit of a raw talent, but he has massive upside at the next level and the Jets were able to land him at a great value.
