Minnesota. 4. player. 48. Pick Analysis. WR. Tyler Johnson. Scouting Report

Tyler Johnson was done nothing but produce for Minnesota in his four years. Over his last two seasons, he has caught 164 passes for 2,487 yards and 25 touchdowns in 26 games. The fact that he is a fifth-round pick is a testament to how deep this receiving class is. While he isn’t as talented as the top receivers in this class, he is a good route runner, he’s quick in and out of his breaks, he’s acrobatic and is capable of some spectacular catches.

Ultimately, getting someone who produced as well as Johnson did at Minnesota in the fifth round is a great value.

Final Grade: A

Scouting Report. Nebraska. 6. DT. Khalil Davis. player. 48. Pick Analysis

The Buccaneers play a 3-4 defense, so that makes having depth on the interior defensive line a priority. Not only does picking Khalil Davis give them some more depth, but it is a great value pick in the sixth round. Davis had a very impressive combine, running a 4.75 40 at 308 pounds and putting up 32 reps on the bench press. Prospects with that combination of athleticism and strength usually don’t last until the sixth round.

Davis also produced pretty well at Nebraska, in his last season he had 8 sacks and 11 tackles for loss. He may not play too much immediately because the Buccaneers already have a pretty good defensive line rotation, but I would definitely bet on him making the roster and he could potentially develop into a starter in the future, making this a great pick.

Final Grade: A

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. player. 48. Temple. Chapelle Russell. 7

Chapelle Brown has been productive over his four years at Temple. In each of the last three seasons, he recorded at least 70 tackles. He has very good instincts against the run and is a good tackler. The Buccaneers have a lot of talent at linebacker, but in the seventh round, you’re just looking for guys who’ve proved they can produce in college and will battle for a roster spot and he will do that.

Final Grade: B-

RB. 7. player. Louisiana-Lafayette. Raymond Calais. 48. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Buccaneers rounded out their draft by taking Raymond Calais. He is an undersized (5-foot-8, 188 pounds), but speedy (4.42 40 yard dash) running back/kick returner. At running back over his career he recorded 1,845 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns on 236 carries and proved he’s a capable as a receiving back recording 17 catches, 145 yards, and one touchdown. At kick returner, he averaged 25.2 yards per return and had two kick returns for a touchdown.

If Calais makes the roster he could return kicks and give them extra depth at running back.
