Round 4: Pick 110

The nickel cornerback position was certainly improved, as the Giants added two more defensive backs who can compete for the starting job. Grant Haley struggled last season and Corey Ballentine, who did not that much experience in covering slot cornerbacks in college, stepped in for a few games.

Darnay Holmes can immediately come in and compete, as they addressed the boundary with James Bradberry. Deandre Baker and Sam Beal will pair with him on the outside, as their young secondary is looking up for this coming season. At 5-foot-10, 198-pounds, the junior had the production as a collegiate starter and the high character you are looking for off-the-field (graduated in less than three years) that merits a selection in early day three.

Round 5: Pick 150

Interesting that the Giants select a guard who they will try out at the center spot. But I am not surprised since Will Hernandez and Kevin Zeitler are holding down both starting guard positions. Spencer Pulley needed to be replaced this offseason and if the Oregon interior offensive lineman works out and starts at center, that would be a big get for them.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound senior was mostly a guard but moved around due to injuries at other positions as a team leader. He is a better run blocker than pass blocker and at the very least, he can be a backup interior offensive lineman. I thought they would have addressed center earlier but the pickup of Shane Lemieux is not a bad one.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. Penn State. B. 31. Cameron Brown. player

Round 6: Pick 183

The Giants certainly wanted depth and competition at the linebacker position. Penn State linebacker Cameron Brown can compete at the will linebacker with Lorenzo Carter. At 6-foot-5, 233-pounds, the senior has plenty of length and speed to blitz with good enough coverage ability.

This was not a bad selection but I would not have addressed it more than twice. There are only so many linebackers that can make the roster, as a Blake Martinez will likely start with either Ryan Connelly or David Mayo playing next to him.
