2020 NFL Draft: Post-Draft Grades for the Chicago Bears
Before the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears released former-first round pick, Leonard Floyd who has since signed with the Los Angeles Rams. With a lack of quality depth behind Mack and Quinn, the Bears needed to address their depth at outside linebacker.
As such, they went after Tulsa pass rusher Trevis Gipson. With both Mack and Quinn in house for the foreseeable future, Gipson will likely be a situational pass rusher, who must transition from a 4-3 defensive end to a 3-4 outside linebacker. Gipson is a solid athlete who brings a good deal of bend and burst to his game.
Final Grade: B
In 2019, the Chicago Bears signed Buster Skrine to come in and a play nickel for the next three seasons. With only a year left on his deal after the 2020 season, the Chicago Bears went and found his future replacement in Georgia Southern corner Kindle Vildor.
Vildor is a developmental player who still needs to develop his skills as a man cover to have long-term success in the NFL. However, Vildor is a physical nickel corner who can develop under Skrine until his contract ends.
Final Grade: B
With their Taylor Gabriel no longer on the roster, the Chicago Bears were in need of finding a future slot option. Anthony Miller could potentially fill that role, the Bears selected Tulane receiver, Darnell Mooney in the 2020 NFL Draft to add some competition during camp. Mooney is an explosive route-runner, who possesses great vertical speed to stretch opposing defenses.
Final Grade: B+
