2.51. Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama

The Dallas Cowboys added to their secondary in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and they got very nice value in doing so. Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs was expected to go as early as the bottom of the first round but was right there for Dallas in the second round.

Diggs has the potential to be a top-flight cornerback in the NFL, but he may be a scheme-specific player. He could thrive in a zone defense allowing him to play press without the worries of him getting beat over the top.

He does have some long speed questions, but he has very nice size and strength to battle with bigger receivers. He is a converted receiver so his hands aren’t bad for a defensive back. In 2019, Diggs had three interceptions and eight passes defended playing in 12 games for the Crimson Tide. Diggs is the little brother of Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs.

Grade: A

3.82. Neville Gallimore, IDL, Oklahoma

The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2020 NFL Draft in need of some help along the defensive line and in particular, the interior. They signed Gerald McCoy but still could use a younger guy who can line up over the ball. They found that guy in Oklahoma defensive lineman Neville Gallimore.

Gallimore shows flashes of being a dominant player but needs to be more consistent in order to find regular playing time. He’s a high effort player who will play through the end of the whistle. His floor is pretty high which is why I like the value here in the third round. He could blossom into a three-down lineman, but at worst he’s a nice rotational interior lineman. Very solid pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the third.
