2020 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills post-draft grades and analysis
By Tyler Kirk
After an offseason where the Buffalo Bills added a lot of depth to their roster, it was time to take the best player available in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills knew they didn’t have a first-round pick and boy did they make the most out of it. Throughout this entire draft for the Buffalo Bills, they took the best player available while shaking up the competition in many different areas on their team.
Before heading into the 2020 NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills had a few needs to be addressed. These needs were, wide receiver, back-up running back, cornerback, and edge rusher.
With a total of seven draft picks the Buffalo Bills looked to address some of these positions while taking the best player available. As the draft unfolded there were a lot of situations where the Buffalo Bills draft board fell right to them.
As we take a look below, I will give the team a grade for every draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft as well as a breakdown the draft as a whole. There were plenty of teams in this 2020 NFL Draft that had great draft selections but Buffalo Bills fans should be excited for the results their team had throughout draft weekend.
With their first selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected A.J. Epenesa defensive end from Iowa. While edge rusher was a need for the Bills they also saw Epenesa as the best player on their board. Throughout the 2020 NFL offseason, Epenesa was considered a late first-round pick by most. The Buffalo Bills take a steady and NFL ready player that can help this front seven in many different ways.
I love the value Epenesa brings to the Buffalo Bills. He is a hard nose worker that can play the run equally as well as the pass. Very powerful with his bull rush moves, Epenesa is exactly what the Buffalo Bills are looking for.
While the Buffalo Bills surely didn’t expect Epenesa to be there at pick 54, the Buffalo Bills had an easy choice to make.
