Baltimore Ravens are putting together an incredible 2020 NFL Draft class
No team is having a better showing in the 2020 NFL Draft than the Baltimore Ravens.
There are plenty of teams who are starting to put together impressive overall 2020 NFL Draft classes. In particular, I like what the Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings are doing. That being said, through two days, no team has put together a better collection of players than the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens have done an incredible job of finding value throughout the first two days of the 2020 NFL Draft and are also taking care of some important positions of need. With single selections still remaining in the fourth, fifth and seventh rounds, the Baltimore Ravens are far from done, but this feels like a good time to quickly go over what they have done so far and dig into how these players can help them in 2020 and beyond.
This was already an impressive roster, but the Baltimore Ravens are only getting better in the 2020 NFL Draft and it all starts with Patrick Queen.
Round 1, Pick 28: Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
Every year, it seems like the Ravens are able to sit back in the first round and find incredible value at a major position of need. Entering this draft, off-ball linebacker stood out as the biggest need on their roster and they were able to fill it with arguably the best linebacker in the class.
Patrick Queen is an extremely smart and athletic linebacker prospect who is going to be a Day 1 contributor for this team. He shows tremendous sideline-to-sideline range and fantastic natural instincts in coverage. Queen is a top-notch player who could quickly grow into their next star player on the defensive side of the ball.
Round 2, Pick 55: J.K. Dobbins, RB, Ohio State
J.K. Dobbins fell a bit further than expected in the 2020 NFL Draft, but the Ravens were sitting there to scoop him right up towards the end of the second round. Dobbins is an extremely patient runner who shows incredible natural ball-carrier vision. He has impressive short-area quickness, is elusive in the open field and shows good burst through the hole. Running back was not a major immediate need for this team, but the Ravens found fantastic value taking Dobbins at No. 55.
Round 3, Pick 71: Justin Madubuike, IDL, Texas A&M
After trading down with the New England Patriots, the Baltimore Ravens found great value once again early in the third round, snagging Justin Madubuike, an exciting interior defensive line prospect out of Texas A&M. Madubuike is a bit undersized, but he has a quick first step and a ton of upside as a one-gap penetrator. Madubuike will likely be a rotational piece for the Ravens early in his career, but he could quickly grow into an impact player in an extremely talented defense.
Round 3, Pick 92: Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas
Devin Duvernay is an extremely explosive wide receiver prospect who can stretch the defense as a deep threat out of the slot and has a ton of run after catch upside. Duvernay also has extremely reliable hands and could quickly become and important playmaker in the passing game for Lamar Jackson and company.
Round 3, Pick 98: Malik Harrison, LB, Ohio State
The Ravens struggled to stop the run more than they are used to in 2019. Adding Queen to the mix will certainly help them in that area, but double-dipping at the linebacker position here makes sense. Malik Harrison is a big and aggressive linebacker prospect who shows impressive speed for a player of his size. Harrison should be able to be an early contributor for the Baltimore Ravens and could quickly grow into a fantastic running mate for Queen.
Round 3, Pick 106: Tyre Phillips, OL, Mississippi State
The Ravens took Tyre Phillips with the final pick of Day 2. Phillips is a mountain of a man on the offensive line and he knows how to use his size to his advantage. Phillips has massive hands, long arms and impressive power at the point of attack. Whether he ends up being a developmental tackle for the Ravens or a depth player on the interior, Phillips was a nice value selection for Baltimore late on Day 2.
As you can see, the Baltimore Ravens have already been able to add many impact players in the 2020 NFL Draft. They already have a loaded roster, but the players in this class could put them over the top.
