In the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers find Tom Brady an interesting offensive weapon in wide receiver Tyler Johnson.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have done an incredible job of reshaping their franchise and getting the most of our their sudden competitive window this offseason. Tom Brady falling into their laps feels like a gift, but they are doing a great job of surrounding him with as much talent as possible.

It began in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft when the Bucs traded up one spot to secure the services of Tristan Wirfs. Wirfs is an incredibly athletic and powerful offensive tackle prospect who has massive upside at the next level. He should be able to come in and be an immediate upgrade for the Buccaneers at the right tackle position.

There is also a lot to like about Tampa Bay snagging safety Antoine Winfield Jr. in the second round and running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn in the third. However, an argument could be made for their fifth-round selection of wide receiver Tyler Johnson being their best value pick so far.

The Bucs have arguably the best starting wide receiver duo in the entire NFL, with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin leading the way at the position. That being said, they do lack impact depth at wide receiver and Johnson will undoubtedly help in that area.

Johnson is a smooth route runner who always seems to find open space in the defense. He can shake man-to-man defense and has a knack for finding the soft spots in zone. Johnson also has a big of contested-catch upside and can create a big after the catch.

Johnson is an interesting player who should be able to come in and make an immediate impact out of the slot. The Buccaneers are ready to compete right now and Johnson could quickly become a dependable playmaker for Brady in the passing game. Tampa finds nice value with their fifth-round pick.
