The Miami Dolphins continue to stockpile talent in the 2020 NFL Draft with the selection of big and powerful defensive tackle Raekwon Davis.

No team has been busier than the Miami Dolphins early in the 2020 NFL Draft. They made a trio of first-round selections, including new franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins have worked hard to improve their offensive line situation in front of Tua in this draft, but at No. 56 overall, the Dolphins get some defensive help by bringing in Raekwon Davis.

Davis is not much an asset as a pass rusher, but he is a big and powerful player up front who has plenty of value against the run. Davis has long arms and powerful hands. He holds his ground extremely well and has a ton of value as a two-gap defensive lineman at the next level.

The Dolphins attacked their interior defensive line in last year’s draft, taking Christian Wilkins in the first round. Wilkins is a disruptive player on the interior and Davis does fit well with him as a running mate.

Miami struggle in all aspects of defensive play last season and the running game was not an exception. Like I said earlier, Davis is not much of a pass-rush threat, but he will help solidify this Miami Dolphins defense against the run, at least on early downs.

Honestly, I do not love the value of this selection. Davis is a solid football player, but he does not bring great value to the modern NFL. Investing a second-round pick in him as a run-first defender is not a great use of resources.

We all loved the Dolphins investing in Tua Tagovailoa as their franchise quarterback early in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, the rest of these selections up until this point are a bit head-scratching. The Dolphins have a ton of 2020 NFL Draft capital, but I do not think they are doing a good job making the most out of it.
