Jacksonville Jaguars take Laviska Shenault, keep crushing 2020 NFL Draft
Digging into the Jacksonville Jaguars’ second-round selection of Laviska Shenault in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Jacksonville Jaguars absolutely crushed the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. With the ninth overall selection, the Jags added an impact cornerback by taking C.J. Henderson. They also took the best player on the board at No. 20, snagging impact edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson. After loading up their defense in the first round, the Jaguars find themselves an impact offensive playmaker in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, bringing Laviska Shenault Jr. into the mix.
Shenault is the most versatile offensive player in the 2020 NFL Draft class. At Colorado, Shenault was used all over the field, making plays at the wide receiver position, in the backfield, as an H-back and even as a wildcat quarterback. Simply put, Shenault is an extremely explosive playmaker who is dangerous with the ball in his hands.
Shenault is extremely quick in short spaces and explosive in the open field. He does a tremendous job of making the most out of every offensive opportunity that he gets and will be able to make an impact at the next level.
While he is not the most advanced route-runner, Shenault does show the ability to create separation at times. He does a nice job of changing directions quickly and is difficult to catch when he turns on the burners. Once he gets some high-level NFL coaching at the wide receiver position, the sky is the limit with this player.
It will now be up to the Jacksonville Jaguars to get the most out of Shenault and create touches for him in different situations. He is a talented guy, but you cannot just run him out there like he is a regular wide receiver. Shenault is an impact offensive playmaker who should be able to come in and make an immediate impact for this team.
