The Cincinnati Bengals kept the 33rd overall pick and paired up _ with Joe Burrow, the top overall pick in round one of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Cincinnati Bengals shocked the world in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft when they selected LSU quarterback Joe Burrow.

Okay, so that’s a lie. Everyone knew that was happening.

But in the second round, the Bengals did what they could to help Burrow out. With the 33rd overall pick in the draft, the Bengals selected wide receiver Tee Higgins out of Clemson.

This is an interesting move considering some of the guys the Bengals currently have at receiver. Obviously they hope AJ Green can come back and play at a high level on the franchise tag, but including and beyond him, their receiver room is talented but a question mark.

Is John Ross going to be able to stay healthy?

Tyler Boyd has been productive and will continue to be a featured player in the offense, but this is a move with both the present and future in mind.

The Bengals have done well to improve their roster all offseason. This move is another step forward for an offense that, if it can stay healthy, is going to be really dangerous.

Joe Burrow is the key to everything, but the Bengals get last year’s first-round pick Jonah Williams back healthy this year and he will be another huge piece going forward.

Tee Higgins set a Clemson record with 27 career touchdown catches, and everyone knows the long list of receivers Clemson has had come through with absolutely stellar production.

Higgins didn’t test overly well at the 2020 Scouting Combine but he showed he’s plenty athletic in his games at Clemson. This is a guy who can go up and win contested-catch situations and win consistently in the red zone.

He brings a very productive weapon to Cincinnati to potentially be Joe Burrow’s WR1 in the future.
