The Green Bay Packers may have just had the shock of the first-round by trading up to take Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Green Bay Packers have traded up four spots in the 2020 NFL Draft to select quarterback Jordan Love out of Utah State with the 26th overall selection.

This may be the shock of the draft thus far, as many expected the Packers to take a wide receiver with their first selection. The trade saw them give up their 30th and 136th picks to the Miami Dolphins and you can’t help but compare this scenario to the 2005 Draft when the Packers selected Aaron Rodgers to be the heir apparent to Brett Favre.

With the shock of it all aside, the Green Bay Packers landed themselves a guy with a lot of the same traits as Rodgers. He’s got a live-wire arm and excels at making throws when moving outside of the pocket. Love can make every throw in the book but has some things to clean up in terms of his accuracy and decision making.

The good news is, he has landed in the ideal scenario as he won’t be expected to come in and play right away. He has the invaluable benefit of sitting and learning behind one of the best quarterbacks of all-time in Aaron Rodgers for at least the 2020 season, as he continues to work on his game with hopes of becoming the incumbent starter in due time.

While this was easily the biggest shocker of the 2020 NFL Draft first-round, Love is a high-ceiling player at the most important position in the game. If he can improve on his flaws, Love could prove to be a steal in a few years. Who knows? The Green Bay Packers could have just drafted their next long-time perennial Pro-Bowler.
