What are the Green Bay Packers doing in the 2020 NFL Draft? Taking AJ Dillon in the second round is even more baffling than Jordan Love in the first.

The Green Bay Packers are having arguably the worst 2020 NFL Draft haul so far. I do not hate Jordan Love as a prospect, I just don’t think this team taking him is a good use of resources. This team was close to a Super Bowl last season, but clearly need more help to get there. Instead of taking a player to help take them over the top, they took a shot on a raw quarterback prospect? I am not a fan.

As much as I did not like that pick, I do not understand the Packers’ second-round selection even more. AJ Dillon has a nice combination of size and speed, but taking him in the second round is a reach, especially when we take positional value into account.

The Packers already have Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams in the backfield. I know both players have expiring contracts coming up, but why are the Packers building so much for the future? They have a chance to compete right now.

Dillon is a massive running back prospect who shows good power as a runner and more speed than you would expect in the open field. However, it’s not like he is a freak athlete for a player of his size. Dillon is a good running back prospect, but they could have found a guy to give them similar value later in the 2020 NFL Draft.

I just don’t understand why the Green Bay Packers would not be looking to fill their more immediate positions of need and try to compete right now. The first two selections of Love and Dillon feel like picks that a rebuilding team would make. I am not a fan of what the Packers are doing in the 2020 NFL Draft.
