2020 NFL Draft: Putting a letter grade on all 32 first-round picks
The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft played out perfectly for the Denver Broncos. There was a ton of talk of them looking to trade up for a receiver, but they didn’t even have to do that. Instead, they simply stood pat and had their choice between Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb. With the Broncos looking for more of a speed threat at the position, I like them going with Jeudy here as the pick.
Jeudy is an incredible natural route-runner who shows fantastic short-area quickness and good long speed. Simply put, this guy knows how to get open and is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. Jeudy is a threat to the defense at all three levels and should be able to jump in and be an immediate contributor for the Broncos. Drew Lock has to be excited about this pick.
2020 NFL Draft Grade: A+
It is never a good idea to reach for need and that is exactly what the Atlanta Falcons did here. A.J. Terrell is a good football player, but after Okudah and Henderson, there is a big tier of cornerbacks who all offer similar value. There were better players on the board at other positions of need for Atlanta (notably edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson), but if they were dead-set on taking a cornerback, they should have either traded up for Henderson or tried everything they could to trade down.
No matter how you look at it, this pick was a reach. Not a strong showing for the Falcons on Day 1 of the draft.
