The Chicago Bears make the most out of their draft capital in the 2020 NFL Draft, stealing talented cornerback prospect Jaylon Johnson at No. 50.

Defensive back stood out as a major era of need for the Chicago Bears. They have obvious needs at both cornerback and safety and I would have been surprised to see them not address at least one of those positions in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Bears do a nice job of finding impact value at an obvious position of need here, snagging Jaylon Johnson at No. 50.

Johnson is a big and athletic cornerback prospect who has long arms and impressive natural ball skills. He is a tough and aggressive player who absolutely dominates in press coverage at the line of scrimmage and has the foot quickness to keep up throughout the route. He is a tremendous asset at the cornerback position who will obviously make an impact in coverage and can make plays against the run as well.

Prior to Johnson, Kyle Fuller was the only dependable cornerback on the Chicago Bears roster. They signed Artie Burns to help fill out the position this offseason, but it would not be smart to rely too heavily on him as a starting option. Johnson can come in and be an immediate upgrade over Burns for the Chicago Bears at the cornerback position.

This team still has obvious needs on both sides of the ball and not much 2020 NFL Draft capital to work with. The addition of tight end Cole Kmet earlier in the second round will undoubtedly help as well, but the Bears have obvious holes on the interior offensive line and at safety. That being said, they did the most with what they had to work with here. Snagging both Kmet and Johnson is a nice haul for the Bears in the second round.
