Round 5: Cameron Clark, OL, Charlotte

Another small school guy, who stood out as one of Charlotte’s best players regardless of position.  Clark was voted offensive MVP of the 49ers in 2017, adding on first-team All-Conference USA honors in 2018 and 2019.

The word that I kept saying to myself when watching Clark was nasty. He is a nasty football player who finishes blocks with high intensity and effort. Clark didn’t just display this against Conference USA teams, he held his own and played great against a brutal Clemson team.

I can see him being shifted from tackle to guard, and that switch can help his career in the long term. While the New Orleans Saints aren’t clamoring for offensive line help, investing draft capital in the offensive line is a great way to make sure injuries will not derail this high powered offense.

Round 6: Benito Jones NT Ole Miss

A former five-star recruit, Benito Jones would be a solid rotational player to bring into New Orleans. Jones does have some limitations, in terms of length and speed, but brings impressive accolades for a sixth-round pick.

The previously noted five-star recruit was tabbed 5A Defensive Player of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Coaches in 2015. At Ole Miss, he was an All-American as a freshman and received second-team all-SEC honors in his senior year.

It should be noted that Jones ran the slowest 40-yard dash time of all interior defenders at the combine at 5.26. Despite this, he was a force at Ole Miss and was able to compete at a high level week in and week out against SEC competition. The Saints having a talented defensive line allows them to roll the dice on a guy who doesn’t have great measurables but does have nice production.
